Under this division the course focuses on practical skills for effective ministry in the church. The course emphasizes the core functions of a pastor in the church. The division focuses on the following areas:-

PAS 111 · SPIRITUAL FORMATION (3CRHRS)

Course Description :

The Course focuses on the processes, principles and practices necessary for spiritual formation in the life of a Christian.

Content :

The Biblical basis of spiritual formation, becoming a disciple, hindrances to spiritual growth, principles of disciple making as demonstrated by Jesus as well as developing a programme for spiritual development in the local church.

PAS 132 · HOMILETICS 1- (2CRHRS)

Course Description :

The course aims at presenting principles of sermon preparation and delivery by developing homiletical skills through sermon writing and preaching.

Content :

Definition of homiletics and a sermon, developing various types of sermons, sermon delivery and introduction and conclusion of a sermon.

PAS 233 · HOMILETICS 11 (2CR HRS)

Course Description :

The course aims at exploring the Expository sermon in depth.

Content :

Identification of a sermon, process of exposition, literary context and the historical context of a text.

PAS 234 · CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE (3CR HRS)

Course Description :

The course focuses on courtship, matTiages and family from a Biblical perspective.

Content :

The biblical basis of Christian marriage, choosing a partner, engagement, wedding ceremonies, dowry, marriage Vows etc. The course will also cover the biblical view on sexuality, childlessness, divorce, single parenthood, remarriage and family planning.

PAS 325 · PAULINE EPISTLES (3CR HRS)

Course Description :

The course focuses on the thirteen letters written by Paul, namely Romans, I & Il Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, I & Il Thessalonians, I & Il Timothy Titus and Philemon.

Content :

The structure of the book, date, theme, outline, historical background and doctrinal content of each book applied to the present church.

PAS 116 · INTRODUCTION TO PASTORAL THEOLOGY (3CR)

Course Description :

The course studies the role of the pastor and his life

Content :

The calling of the Pastor, Etiquette of the pastor, Pastoral Ethics, Training of Pastor, challenges of the Pastor and personal life of the Pastor and his/her family.

PAS 217 · PASTORAL WORK (2CR)

Course Description :

The course studies the ministries related to personal work.

Content :

The role of the Pastor in Counseling, Church discipline, Holy Communion, Child dedication, Visitation, Weddings, Preaching, Deaths and Funerals and the community etc.

PAS 228 · PASTORAL COUNSELING 1 (2CR)

Course Description :

This course introduces the theory and practice of counseling.

Content :

Definition of Christian counseling/qualities of a Christian counselor, theories of counseling, Ethics of the counselor etc.

PAS 239 · PASTORAL COUNSELING 11 (2CR)

Course Description :

The course focuses on specific issues that require biblical counseling.

Content :

Anger, Anxiety, Depression, Decision making, Sickness, Grief, Financial problem, marital problems and suicide. Assessment and diagnosis of the problem along with therapeutic measures shall be highlighted.
