The goal of ministerial studies is to broaden the understanding of the student in the activities of the church since inception and how to effectively minister in the contemporary society.

Course Description :

The course focuses on historical development from the apostles to the time of reformation.

Content :

Inception of the church in Jerusalem persecution, the church fathers, the ecumenical council, monasticism, papacy, the church and State, crusades and forerunners of reformation.

MIN 322 · CHURCH HISTORY 11 (3CR)

Course Description :

The course deals with survey of the historical development of the Christian church from reformation to the present time.

Content :

The rise of rationalism, pietism and denominationalism within the church. The scientific and philosophical reaction to orthodoxy, the evangelical revival and the rise of Methodism, The great awakenings, protestant mission and expansion will also be discussed.

MIN 333 · CHURCH HISTORY 111 (3CR)

Course Description :

The course highlights the theory of the Christian church in Africa from the early church to the present church.

Content :

The historical development of the African church especially the church in North Africa and the Coptic church, the growth of Islam, Slave trade, Missionary outreach, the scramble for Africa the East African Revival, the rise of indigenous churches, African Theologians and church leaders, Interdenominational church organizations and problems as well as challenges facing the church in Africa.

Course Description :

The course studies the biblical foundation of evangelism and discipleship.

Content :

Definitions, biblical foundations and principles of evangelism and discipleship. The philosophy, methods and objectives of personal evangelism and ways of carrying out successful discipleship. The model of discipleship as taught by Jesus the Master Teacher.

Course Description :

The course studies the biblical principles of church planting in the New Testament and the principles of church growth.

Content :

Biblical principles of church planting, establishing, organizing and leading a local church in church planting, Scriptural examples of church development and growth. The importance of goal setting.

MIN 316 · INTRODUCTION TO MISSIOLOGY (2 CR)

Course Description :

The course focuses on Christian mission from biblical and historical perspective.

Content :

Theology of missions, history of mission from early church to the present cross- cultural differences, community health and development mission strategies and intercultural communications.

MIN 317 · CHRISTIAN ETHICS (2CR)

Course Description :

The course studies various ethical perspectives giving biblical principles on contemporary issues.

Content :

Definition, types of biblical principles on poverty, suicide, abortions, technology, sex, war, absolutism, relativism etc.

MIN 338 · CHAPLAINCY (3CR)

Course Description :

The course focuses on the principles and practice of ministering in an institution of learning, hospitals and in military.

Content :

Definitions, qualities of a chaplain, characteristics of different age groups, chaplaincy and management, challenges of in various institutions. Chaplaincy and planning.

Course Description :

The course aims to critique various world religions, cults and occults from a biblical perspective as well as devising strategies of reaching the adherents of these religions.

Definition, characteristics of a cult, Secular religions, Occults and examples of cults like SDAs, Jehovah's witnesses, Mormonism, Christian science, Islam and Roman Catholicism.
